Rad_2 "Detail"

So today I decided to go into Detail with models and add some things to the world.

The first thing I did was create some grass, and a new building to for the world, in this case I choose a small office building:

So as you can see this Office building is in a very prime location in the middle of nowhere:


And it even includes a full wrecked interior (WIth working Doors !!)

And as you can see this office is fully wrecked in advance, with knocked over chairs, spilled coffee stains, and scattered papers!


Lol, anyways this is my odd way of showing you guys how much detail I am putting into this game, so I hope this makes you happy to see some sweet updates ! :D

Rad_1 "Lighting"

So as you can see from the title, I really love to play Fallout : New Vegas, and I think it would be great if there was a way that ppl could meet online on it, so I have decided to make a low-poly version of Fallout only Online, it is called, "Radiated".

The new title system will help you guys if you miss a few post, judge weither that post was important or not, as I will put in Quotation marks what the main concept of the post was, today's is "Lighting" yes, I plan to start doing Daily Patches from now on, and to have lots of content in each one, today's wasn't much because I was playing Fallout, studying how it works and such (And enjoying a few other games :3)

Anyways, hope you enjoy!

Today was a very basic day, I got the Networking put back into the game as well as worked on Lighting.

"I like FPS Survival" - Robofighter1000 (Welcome back :3 )
-I do too, and I plan to make this game a very large open world with thousands of possibilities, as well as AI interacting, different clans and etc.

Also for those of you who haven't played fallout, its a Nuclear Wasteland and a lot of the monsters are mutated creatures such as "Deathclaws" (which are super scary) they are a mix of Bear, and Wolf I think.

Let's take a moment to think

This is your guy's chance to get an input on my game, to choose how it will go and how things will turn out, before I start making any major patches I want to get some Input from you guys

"How far are you with the current one? Because you could just lower the graphics" - Robofighter1000
-I know I could just take the time to make lesser quality graphics, however I setup the scripts for Higher-quality weapons and models and when using less complicated models, you don't use such complicated scripts. So I would have to start over.
(I will keep the current map though just as a future reference) :)

Informational Post

So this post today will have nothing to do with patches, just some questions to ask you guys.

First of all I want to thank you all for sticking with me through the whole Development process, and all the comments you guys leave me really mean a lot. And I think it's time we came to a decision.

I have really been shooting farther than I can throw, I am spending too much time on graphics to create good gameplay mechanics. So, here is my idea.

The Re-Creation of Alone World 2.
I know, i know, the first thing that comes to mind is "FUCK NO!" or "WHY THE HELL WOULD YOU DO THAT?" but hear me out first before raging in the comments :) .

Why?
Because I believe I focused too much on the graphical side of things, I have decided that things should become more Low-Poly. Allowing me to spend less time on models and such and more time on gameplay.

Let me show you guys the benefits of restarting,

The benefits of restarting:
1) Though I will be starting over, spending less time on Graphics means that I will be able to get more content created, which means more patches, and I might even be able to get the Daily Patches going again!

2) I will be able to spend more time on Gameplay mechanics, which is the main area of all games, therefore allowing for faster beta tests.

3) I was so exited for alone world 2, that I never planned things out, and so with me starting over I will be able to spend more time on the back-story of the game.

So now that I have given you guys some points on why I think it would be a good idea to start over with low-poly graphics, it's up to you guys to vote:

"When can we beta test the game"? - Everyone
-I am not sure as with the new decisions, however if the game is turned to low-poly, development will be speed up and I might be able to get a Beta Test out to you guys sooner.

First thing I want to do real quick is address this comment:
"I read that you're 13 and you started making websites at the age of 8, I' sorry if that's true, but to me I can sell bullsheet." - Georgey

Honestly it wasn't until that comment that I realised how many people refused to play my game because they thought that I was just trying to impress and lie that I was 13. The fact of the matter is, I am 13, did I create my first website when I was 8? Hell yeah. That's my own personal achievement that I am proud of, and honestly that one I can't prove, but I don't care if I prove it or not as that is something I know I did and it's something I am proud of.

As for if I am really 13 or not and making video games, I can prove that with a picture.

Back to development:

So today was another productive day, I started off by working on the farm:

The farm's corn field features many different stages of plant growth, from recently planted, to past harvest time and dying. Here's a graph:


And then after playing a few games, I found something that really made me mad, a common thing that most FPS games shared...    You couldn't see your own feet. It really made me mad whenever I would look directly down and it was blank empty ground, nothing else. So I changed that:

AW2_5

So today was a very productive day, and honestly I got a lot more done than I ever suspected to. But of course, due to popular demand, there is one new MAJOR thing I put into the game, a main game play aspect. But I am not going to tell you what it is. Take a look at some pictures and guess what I added to the game :3




That is all for today, I really plan to get some more work done on the Interface, as well as add some new items to the game.

ONE TIME EVENT:
Whoever can guess the two main things I added today, gets to pick one item to be added to the game, it can be anything from Bigfoot to a giant taco. You only get one guess though. Also this isn't for just one person, the first three people who guess the two main things right get to pick any thing to go into their game.

AW2_4 & 38 Bit Wonder

Sorry for the late post, lot of stuff going on at home.
But I got a lot of work done, a lot of new things added so I hope that can make up for the delay:

So as you can see the new Main Menu features showing what your character looks like, as well as allowing you to pick from more options. I also finally got around to texturing the player and  fixing up his animations.

Tomorrow I plan to finalize the Networking, as well as create some Interface to the game. And due to popular request, I also plan to get the ability to switch between first and third person in soon.


Also I have started on a little side project called "38 Bit Wonder" it is a small 2D game I am making, you can check it out at http://www.38bitwonder.blogspot.com/

-I live in a small poor town, no way a gas station that big would exist. But I imagine like Robofighter said that in the bigger areas gas stations would get that big.

AW2_3

So today I was really productive and got a lot done, Including the player's Idle animation & making the grass more 'Lush' :

I also added more detail to the world with a path & Gas Station:

This brand new building will allow for more script testing such as picking items up off shelves, or testing vehicles on the pumps.

And finally I worked on some "Pickup" Animations for the character, this will add more depth & Realism to the game which will allow it to seem a little more like you are "Emerged" in it.

These new animations will add a lot of depth to the game, and no he is not actually picking up any thing, a animation is playing.

So that is all for today, I hope to get some more items added tomorrow, and start on picking things up soon as well as Inventory!

NOTE: As you guys may have noticed, this is now a Third Person game, which means things will be a little more different. The choice was made after studying a little and seeing that I personally like Third Person a little better as well as First Person is more for "Constant Action" Games, as this game will be more toward the survival / action side.

I Put this as Patch 1 since really the last one wasn't a patch but more of an informational thing.

Any ways, I know you guys are dying to see how the new Alone World is turning out so I decided to share with you guys what I have so far.

First thing I did was add a game feature you guys were REALLY hoping for...
MultiPlayer!

Now my games will be Online and you will be able to meet with friends :D
Featuring a Main Menu, Quick Match Button, Choose your Username, and Username Ranks. More will be added!

A sweet new pause menu, featuring the ability to go back to the main menu, quit the game, OR RESUME! >:D

So that is really what the game is looking like right now, it may not seem like a lot but it's definitely a lot of work done. Tomorrow I plan on adding the ability to save user's data. Such as position, and etc.

Again, may not seem like much but this is MANY lines of code, hours of thinking. But now that I understand Networking better, it will allow me to put this feature into any future games I make :D

AW2_1

So it is very obvious that you guys want me to continue the Development of "Alone World" and "The Big Room" at the same time, honestly I like both and I think it's a great idea to continue working on both.

First off I want to tell you guys that the development of Alone World will come a little more than The Big Room but I do plan to get stuff done on both c:

So one thing I will have to announce is that I deleted the original world.

Before I get any hate comments, the reason being is that I did things wrong. I did em wrong, And it's my fault.

So yes I am continuing the game, but this isn't Alone World anymore, it's Alone World 2.
I have kept the original files for future reference, but I am completely starting over. I messed up pretty bad when making the original game, I hurried, organized incorrectly, and most of all I messed up the mesh's themself.

So the current map, buildings, and weapons, kiss em bye. And say Hello to "Alone World 2" !
I hope to get some screenshots of game development to you guys soon!

Also track the asteroid that will pass between earth and the moon on NASA's page. It is called 2014 DX110 and is estimated to be 217k miles away from earth when it passes through. Xurrently the risk factor of it hitting us is 1 / 10,000,000 so we're pretty safe :)
